In an ordinary scene, a group of men are having lunch with plates of pasta and glasses of wine in front of them. However, this seemingly normal picture takes a dark turn when you realize that the individuals dining together are the heads of the three most notorious criminal syndicates in the world.

The "bosses" of the 'Ndrangheta, based in the Calabria region, the Camorra from Naples, and Cosa Nostra in Sicily, are suspected to have been captured by a camera while sharing a meal in a garden.

According to international media reports, it is believed that the photo was taken in April 2021, and there are now fears that the three most powerful mafia groups in Italy may have formed a terrifying alliance, ominously dubbed the "super mafia."

The meeting is said to have been one of several gatherings that law enforcement had under surveillance, with prosecutors warning of the emergence of a major crime coalition in the wealthy north of Italy.

"This is Milan," a suspected Camorra mobster was heard telling an ally. "We're not in Sicily, we're not in Rome, we're not in Naples; we're doing good things here," is believed to be the member's further statement, as reported by The Telegraph.

A suspected member of Cosa Nostra is said to have responded, "We have built an empire."

The publication of the photo comes at a time when it has been reported that the three powerful criminal organizations have set aside their historical rivalries to create a "super mafia" alliance that is taking advantage of business opportunities in the Lombardy region.

They are suspected of making hundreds of millions of euros by investing in legitimate businesses in the world fashion capital, Milan. The Calabrian, Sicilian, and Roman mafias have entered into a lasting agreement of a sort of confederation, according to Italian prosecutors.

While public bloodshed, murders, and violent feuds were once a way of life for these mafia bosses, they are now said to maintain a lower profile, opting for white-collar crime over gunfights.
