The official qualification of Albania for Euro 2024 is just one point away. But the national team is playing for more than just qualification. Like never before in history, our national team has the opportunity to finish in the first pot. The Red and Blacks need to earn 6 full points in the next two matches and then have the chance to hope to be ranked alongside Germany, France, or England in the draw for Euro 2024.
So far, the national team is currently in 8th place in the overall ranking of the European Championship qualifiers. Albania has gathered 13 points and in the best possible scenario, will conclude the qualifying campaign with 19 points. Exactly these points are needed to aim for a place among the top 5 in these qualifiers. With such a points quota, the Red and Blacks would surpass Turkey (through goal difference) and Hungary, even if both of them were to win their remaining matches.
However, to reach the 5th place, we would also need some help from Xhani De Biasi. His Azerbaijan team plays the last match in the group against Belgium, which, in case of victory, would push Albania out of the first pot. So, even a draw from De Biasi's team would be enough for Austria to remain at the top of the group, which has a total of 19 points.
