Kosovo's Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci |
Kosovo's Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, recently announced that, in addition to drones, the country has acquired various other weapon and ammunition systems. The Bayraktar drones purchased from Turkey have already taken flight over Kosovo's skies as part of testing conducted by the Kosovo Security Force, as Euronews reports.
"Beyond drones, all the weapon systems at our disposal are being tested within the Kosovo Security Force. They are not only used for testing but also for training our soldiers to operate both individually and as a team. The Bayraktar drones have flown over Kosovo's airspace. We have not only acquired Bayraktar drones but also many other weapon systems, numerous types of ammunition, and tactical vehicles that were planned to be purchased in later phases," stated Maqedonci.
Furthermore, Maqedonci emphasized that, thanks to the continuous support from the Kurti government, the procurement of these drones was completed ahead of schedule, even with additional budget allocations.
"The number or technical aspects of the Bayraktar drone purchase cannot be discussed. What we can say is that it is a capacity that was planned in the organizational chart of Kosovo Security Force equipment. It is a capacity foreseen earlier and purchased ahead of schedule with support from the Kosovo government, led by Prime Minister Kurti, with additional budget in this matter," added the Defense Minister on Tv1.
It is worth noting that the Kosovo Security Force has strengthened its capabilities with the acquisition of Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Turkey, which are now part of the FSK's arsenal. Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that the purchase of drones will enhance security in Kosovo.
