Lavrov wants to travel to Skopje, but the Albanian Minister of North Macedonia says the skies are closed for Russia

Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, is seeking to travel to North Macedonia. This was confirmed by the diplomat and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia  Bujar Osmani, who explained that it is a request from Putin's chief diplomat to participate in the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The event is being held at the end of this month in Skopje, as North Macedonia is currently chairing the OSCE.

"I received a letter a few days ago from the Russian Foreign Minister in which he emphasized the request to ensure his presence in Skopje. There are some challenges around this request, as the airspace of North Macedonia and our neighbors is closed to Russian state flights, so some logistical efforts need to be made here," Osmani confirmed.

The minister added that all member countries should participate in this OSCE Council, but this will depend on the decisions that will be made in the coming days.

Osmani said that the OSCE, in its 50 years of existence, is facing a deep crisis as it has had its budget blocked since 2021 and has not managed to elect leaders in several key positions.
