The United Nations Special Rapporteur of Albanian origin, Francesca Albanese, in the global media, has been very critical of the Israeli occupier, speaking about genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine. Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, expressed that the suffering of the besieged population in Gaza and their deprivation of necessities is a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, warns of the serious risk of ethnic cleansing threatening Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. She calls for urgent negotiations for a ceasefire. According to the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese, "Israel's response has nothing to do with self-defense and goes beyond what is allowed by international law."

Palestine between self-determination, apartheid, and human rights: an interview with Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur since last May, an independent expert appointed by the UN for the delicate mandate of respecting human rights in Palestine, published a "Report on the human rights situation in the occupied territories since 1967."

Meanwhile, the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, emphasized that the suffering of the besieged population in Gaza and their deprivation of necessities is a war crime and a crime against humanity. She also expressed that a large part of the besieged Gaza population is being annihilated.

UN: 40% of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks are children

"The trauma and destruction are indescribable. The hell in which the people of Gaza find themselves is a stain for all of us, for all UN member states, especially those who had the power to stop it and did not," the United Nations announced that 40% of Palestinians killed in Israeli bombings in Gaza since October 7 have been children, according to Anadolu. In the UN headquarters in New York, the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, provided press information regarding the report presented to the General Assembly on Palestinian children, reported by the Swiss Albanian newspaper Le Canton27.ch.

"The continuous bombing of Gaza by Israeli forces has already caused the death of over 14,000 people, several times more than Israeli victims, and 40% of them were children. Are we aware of what is happening? There are severely wounded children everywhere," she said.

The UN Rapporteur stated that 1.6 million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza since October 7, when clashes between Israel and Hamas resumed, and these people have no access to water, food, electricity, and medicines. "The trauma and destruction are indescribable. The hell in which the people of Gaza find themselves is a stain for all of us, for all UN member states, especially those who had the power to stop it and did not," said Albanese.

The report explains the situation of children under occupation. "My report focused on the intergenerational impact of the colonial occupation of Israeli settlers on children in the occupied Palestinian territories, what remains of their right to live in security and dignity," said Albanese.

Albanese stated that from 2008 until October 7, 1,534 Palestinian children were killed, and 32,175 were injured as a result of Israeli attacks, while only 25 Israeli children were killed and 524 were injured in counterattacks during the same period. Francesca Albanese also highlighted that "13,000 Palestinian children have been arrested, interrogated, and brutally detained by Israeli forces since 2000."

"Palestinian children ask me: 'Why are we fewer people? Are we less valuable?'" said Albanese, adding, "Recently, an Israeli occupation spokesperson said that the number of Palestinian children accidentally killed during operations aimed at eliminating terrorists is insignificant. We must also remember a statement he made portraying Palestinian children and their parents as terrorists and claiming that human shields are very common in Israel."
