More and more Albanians are seeking to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve abroad. According to tour operators, the number of those choosing to celebrate away from home has increased by around 25% compared to 2022.

"The countries that have been preferred the most are Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, and France, which have a very well-organized setup for the holiday period starting a month before, and the atmosphere is felt," says Florinda Zani, a tour operator.

Outside the preferences of Albanians, countries in the region such as Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Croatia are also popular choices.

A positive trend is that in recent years, winter destinations have increased within the country as well. Festive tables may not be set at home, but families have options to gather in their homeland. The southern part of the country, especially, is favored, along with the main coastal cities.

"Within the country, there are many reservations again, especially in Voskopoja, Korça, Dardha, but also from the coast like Durres, Saranda."

While tradition dictates that everyone celebrates in one way or another, Albanians will pay 15-20% more this year.

"In Europe, dinners are not included, but in countries like Greece, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, these two important holidays are included. Unlike Europe, in Albania, they offer either all three meals or breakfast and gala dinner. Depending on the hotel's rating, prices can range from 40 euros to 100 euros per person."

Tour operators claim that despite winter, there are tourists who have chosen our country during this period, encouraged by the good performance of tourism.
