The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is in New York, where he has participated as an honored guest in the reception organized for the appointment of the first Albanian-American judge in the United States, Edit Shkreli.
Through a post on social networks, Veliaj writes that this is not only the best century for Albania so far, but it is also the century of wonderful Albanian women.
Glad to see little sister Edit Shkreli get inducted as the first Albanian-American and youngest judge, in NYC. 🇦🇱🇺🇸

Her story as a 13 year-old immigrant, starting from scratch, after losing her dad - and yet fighting, studying, struggling - is a modern day Cinderella Story. 👑… pic.twitter.com/c5nEE3X3DF
"I am happy to see my little sister, Edit Shkreli, elected as the first Albanian-American judge in New York, but also as the youngest. Her story, as a 13-year-old immigrant, who started everything from scratch after losing her father – fighting, studying, and trying hard – is the story of a contemporary heroine. This is not only the best century for Albanians so far, but above all, it is the century of amazing Albanian women like Edit, Mira Murati, and Ermonela Jaho – and many other women who are inspired by them! POWER!" writes Veliaj.
