Aleksandar Vučić presents a bouquet of red roses to Giorgia Meloni |
With a large bouquet of red roses, President Aleksandar Vučić welcomed the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, during her first visit to Serbia.
In addition to the flowers, Vučić had prepared a very special reception, including gifts for the Italian Prime Minister Meloni. Meloni chose this visit as part of the peak of the election campaign and two weeks before the elections in Serbia, which is seen as support for President Vučić.
"It is a great honor for me to host Giorgia Meloni in Belgrade. I am sure that this visit will give an additional impetus to our relations. Italy is one of our country's most important political and economic partners. I am particularly grateful to Mrs. Meloni for finding time, despite her busy schedule, to visit Serbia and offer support on our European journey," wrote Vučić on his Instagram account.
"I am grateful for the essential and persistent support from Italy on Serbia's European path, and that Giorgia Meloni has always had time to listen to what Serbia has to say and has had an unbiased approach to the problems in the region.
Italy objectively and fundamentally approaches solving problems in our region. Once again, I express my great gratitude that she is here with us in Belgrade," said Vučić.
"Our relations can be even better and can develop even further. I think Belgrade is the first city in the world where Italian companies opened their offices. Our relations demonstrate the strategic importance that Serbia has for Italy, and for this, we will be among the first countries advocating for the expansion and reunification of Europe. Europe is not a club for someone to decide who will be there and who will not. It is very important for the reunification of all of Europe when we look at the scenario worldwide.
"For us, it is important that the Western Balkans join the European family," said Meloni.
