The Bank of Albania announces the deadline for the exchange of old banknotes

 The Bank of Albania has announced the withdrawal from circulation of several old banknotes. In a statement on its official website, the Bank of Albania informs that the deadline for exchanging these banknotes at face value is until December 31, 2023, at any second-tier bank branch.

"The Bank of Albania informs the public that, based on the decision of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania No.17, dated February 13, 2013, 'On extending the deadline for the exchange of certain demonetized banknotes,' December 31, 2023, is the final deadline for the exchange of demonetized banknotes as listed below:

100 Lekë, issued in the years 1993, 1994, 1996, featuring the image of the National Fighter, Source: Bank of Albania 
 100 Lekë, issued in the year 1996, featuring the image of Fan S. Noli
200 Lekë, issued in the years 1992, 1994, 1996, featuring the image of Ismail Qemali;
 200 Lekë, issued in the years 1992, 1994, 1996, featuring the image of Ismail Qemali;
500 Lekë, issued in the years 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, featuring the image of the girl with the sunflower;
500 Lekë, issued in the years 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, featuring the image of the girl with the sunflower
500 Lekë, issued in the years 1992, 1994, 1996, featuring the image of Naim Frashëri
500 Lekë, issued in the years 1992, 1994, 1996, featuring the image of Naim Frashëri
1000 Lek, issued in the yers 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, image of Skanderbeg
The above banknotes can continue to be exchanged until December 31, 2023, at any counter of the second tier banks.
