The government of Serbia recently decided to allow vehicles with Kosovo license plates to circulate within its territory. The decision was announced by the director for Kosovo in the Serbian government, Petar Petković, who stated that it is implementing an agreement signed by Borko Stefanović, currently in opposition.
Petković hastened to add that with this decision, Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo and that license plates are not a symbol of statehood, according to him.
"The permission for all vehicles registered in Pristina is for practical reasons, aiming to facilitate the movement of citizens and ensure their freedom of movement, and it cannot be interpreted as recognition or a unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence," Petković said.
