According to an order from the Police Oversight Agency (Alb: Angjensia e Mbikqyrjes Policore), two Albanian police officials have been arrested on charges of corruption. It is reported that the customs officer and customs officer in Kakavija are in custody, while another customs employee is declared as wanted.
The Police Oversight Agency suspects that customs officers and police officials were involved in corrupt schemes related to irregular customs procedures, benefiting from monetary gains.
From preliminary investigations, it is suspected that 1 trailer, 4 heavy-tonnage trucks, and other vehicles loaded with goods crossed the border point without undergoing checks and avoiding customs payments.
