In a recent government meeting, Albania decided to send 22 soldiers and a vessel named "Iliria" to participate in the NATO mission in the Aegean Sea. The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, announced the decision, highlighting that this deployment marks the country's eighth active mission.
Peleshi stated, "A mission involving 22 soldiers and the vessel 'Iliria' in the NATO mission in the Aegean Sea is a significant participation. We are active in KFOR, the largest presence in Kosovo. We also have a contingent in Bulgaria and have offered to send more than 100 soldiers to Romania to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. We actively participate in around 8 missions."
This move underscores Albania's commitment to contributing to international security and aligning with NATO's objectives. The country has been actively engaged in various missions, showcasing its dedication to regional stability and cooperation.
Additionally, during the same meeting, a decision was made to establish a State Committee for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of Albania's Liberation.
"An agreement has been reached to establish a State Committee for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary. The celebrations will take place nationwide, with coordination led by the Ministry through a state committee," said Peleshi.
The establishment of this committee emphasizes the importance of commemorating historical milestones and fostering a sense of national unity and pride. The 80th anniversary celebrations will likely involve various events and activities across Albania, bringing communities together to reflect on the country's liberation.
