A 50-year-old Albanian man, who took the life of his 33-year-old brother-in-law upon learning of the latter's nine-year-long sexual assault on his 18-year-old daughter, has been temporarily released to house arrest in Greece.

Greek media reported that the man has been placed under house arrest in his daughter's home until the judicial council decides on the case after five days.

The 50-year-old faces charges of intentional homicide under emotional distress, illegal firearm use, and possession of an unlicensed weapon.

The daughters of the 50-year-old expressed relief and joy after the decision to grant him conditional release, allowing him to stay at home. The man and his legal representatives appeared before the prosecutor for approximately two hours.

Alexis Kougias, one of the man's lawyers, had previously characterized the case as "difficult," emphasizing the need to establish the true circumstances of the crime, as well as the preceding events and the perpetrator's personality.

It is noteworthy that the 33-year-old brother-in-law, who lost his life in the armed attack by the 50-year-old, not only sexually assaulted the 18-year-old but also continuously blackmailed her with intimate videos to extort money from her.
