In line with the National Operational Plan "Tempulli" and the School Safety Package, law enforcement authorities in Albania have intensified efforts to combat criminal activities near schools. Daily controls, based on police intelligence, focus on areas surrounding educational institutions and other places frequented by young people to prevent and counter criminal activities.
Following a two-month proactive investigation, the Anti-Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the Special Forces "Shqiponja" of the Durres County Police Directorate, successfully concluded Operation "Group." The operation targeted a criminal group engaged in the sale of cannabis sativa in doses, operating in proximity to schools and nightlife venues.
Three members of the criminal group were apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to arrest another identified individual. The operation resulted in the seizure of 5 kilograms of ready-to-distribute cannabis sativa, a vehicle, three mobile phones, and a sum of money acquired through criminal activities.
This operation was conducted in adherence to the measures outlined in the nationwide operational plan "Tempulli" and the School Safety Package. It was also a response to a two-month-long proactive investigation, carried out in collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office near the First Instance Court of Durres.
During the operation, law enforcement authorities arrested A. J., 50 years old, and A. J., 24 years old, a father and son residing in Fushë Krujë, along with R. K., 27 years old, residing in Krujë. Another suspect has been identified and is currently wanted by the police.
The seized 5 kilograms of cannabis sativa, ready for distribution near schools and youth-frequented areas, serve as material evidence in the ongoing investigation. Additionally, an automobile, three mobile phones, and 400 euros believed to be proceeds from drug sales were confiscated.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the wanted suspect and to identify and hold accountable any other individuals involved in this criminal group. The case materials have been handed over to the Prosecutor's Office for further legal action.
