In a recent development, four police officers from the Kapshtica Police Station have been suspended from duty over allegations of abuse of power. Simultaneously, a 32-year-old man has been arrested on charges of trafficking motor vehicles. The Police in Korçë announced that the suspect trafficked vehicles into Albania that were reported stolen in Greece. He allegedly altered their identifying elements to later provide false documentation for selling these vehicles within the country, local media report.

Furthermore, the investigation has documented with legal evidence that police officers, in violation of the law and procedures, failed to conduct proper verifications on the documentation of the vehicles. They neglected to check for missing warrants or authorizations that the 32-year-old should have possessed when introducing these vehicles into Albanian territory.

The Police statement reveals that, as material evidence, six suspected stolen vehicles worth €130,000 have been seized. The Anti-Mafia Police (AMP) executed the Prosecutor's order for the implementation of the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korçë. The court has imposed the security measure of "Arrest in prison" for the 32-year-old suspect on charges of "Motor Vehicle Trafficking."

Additionally, AMP carried out the court's decision to suspend public service duties for four police officers as suspects in the crime of "Abuse of Duty." The suspended officers include Inspector M.M. (32 years old), Inspector S.L. (56 years old), Inspector E.M. (35 years old), and Sub-commissioner M.A. (28 years old).
