In a significant move, the Political Committee of the Council of Europe has unanimously approved the proposal put forward by Lulzim Basha for the confiscation of over 300 billion euros worth of assets belonging to Russia. The funds are intended to be used for the reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. The leader of the Democratic Party announced this development in a video post on Facebook.

Today at the Council of Europe, the Political Committee unanimously endorsed my proposal for a resolution and a recommendation from the Parliamentary Assembly calling for the confiscation of over 300 billion euros in assets belonging to the Russian Federation. The objective is to allocate these resources towards the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Basha emphasizes that this decision serves as a warning to any aggressor threatening the security and stability of a region or aiming for the occupation of territories.

"This is significant news for supporters of a just war and a warning to any other aggressor in Europe and beyond. Especially for our region, which has been considerably troubled in recent months, anyone attempting to jeopardize security and stability, or engaging in aggression against neighboring nations with the intention of territorial occupation or forcefully imposing political agendas, will face similar measures."

The approval of such a proposal marks a strong stance by the European Council, sending a clear message against aggression and in support of nations facing security challenges. The initiative aims not only to address the current crisis in Ukraine but also to deter any potential aggressors in the future.
