Lara Colturi |
In yet another remarkable achievement, Lara Colturi, a highly talented Albanian-Italian teenager, has made her mark in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The 17-year-old secured the 9th position in the slalom race, held on the slopes of Flachau in Austria.
Colturi left behind a field of 65 competitors, only being surpassed by some of the world's best, who not only have greater age but also much more experience than her.
She clocked a time of 55.80 seconds in the first descent and 56.04 seconds in the second, with an overall result of 1 minute 51.84 seconds, approximately 2 and a half seconds behind the winner.
This is the best result ever achieved in this sport by an Albanian on the international stage. Given her young age, Colturi is expected to further improve in the future and enter the medal zone.
In the race held in Austria, the distinguished American skier Mikaela Shiffrin triumphed, securing her 94th career victory in the World Cup races.
