Altina Salihu and Kosovo's flag in her background |
Altina Salihu, the accomplished Kosovar talent who reached the pinnacle of success by being named the world's best student for ages 16-17, has been receiving scholarship offers from renowned universities worldwide.
As a result, the student from the village of Burojë in Skënderaj is being presented with opportunities to study at prestigious international universities. However, Salihu has openly expressed her desire to continue contributing to Kosovo, directing a plea to the country's leaders.
"Please help me reject these offers. I want to contribute to my country, where my parents live, where I have friends and companions, where my heart and mind reside. Work for the people, forget hatred, and above all, forget the chairs that are holding you back. In the end, open your minds to new ideas that have learned better than you to love and build our homeland," Salihu wrote among other things in her post.
Dear friends,
A few days ago, I was selected as the most successful student for the age group 16-17 in the world. The awards ceremony for this achievement, which I accomplished several months ago, will be held soon.
A few months ago, I was offered a scholarship at a university in the United States to continue studying Astronomy. A couple of weeks ago, I also received a scholarship offer from another university in Denmark to pursue studies in Psychology.
What I am trying to convey is that our beloved Kosovo is losing ambitious young individuals daily, and they are the key to the successes of developed Western countries.
Please help me reject these offers. I want to contribute to my homeland, where my parents live, where I have friends and companions, where my heart and mind reside. Work for the people, forget hatred, and above all, forget the chairs that are holding you back. In the end, open your minds to new ideas that have learned better than you to love and build our homeland.
