Albanian Diaspora Leader Honored in Hungary for Promoting National Heritage

Avni Hafuzi, a well-known figure in the Albanian diaspora in Hungary, has left his mark on the history of the city of Eger, Hungary, with an extraordinary initiative. He has decided to create a landmark for our nation by immortalizing the symbolic square and the bust of our national hero, Skanderbeg.

The Skanderbeg bust in "Skënderbej" square is scheduled to be installed at the end of March or the beginning of April, becoming a historic landmark for the Albanian community and all citizens of Eger. Avni Hafuzi, determined to realize this dream, expressed his joy and pride for this significant step towards preserving our historical heritage.

During a special event on February 5, on the eve of the 16th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, a ceremony was held to place two plaques in the city of Eger, marked with the name of the square in two languages, Albanian and Hungarian. This was a manifestation of cooperation and respect for Albanian history and identity in the country they reside in.

Avni Hafuzi, a respected figure dedicated to promoting the culture and history of his nation, was supported by collaborators and friends to accomplish this grand project. He expressed his gratitude for the support of his collaborators and his family, who have supported him on this long and bright journey.

Another significant part of this glorious story is the chess table, which will be an important focal point of community activity and will strengthen the bonds among Albanians in Hungary. The first step for this activity is planned to be taken on March 2, 2024, at the inauguration of the hand wrestling table, which Avni Hafuzi believes is a sport of our cultural and historical heritage.

This story is a powerful example of the human ability to create significant changes in communities and promote the values of national identity. Avni Hafuzi and his collaborators have shown that with dedication and commitment, it is possible to make great changes and build a better future for all.
