According to data published by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, around 391,608 local and foreign visitors have visited various museums in Albania during the year 2023.
Compared to 2022, the number of museum visits in 2023 has increased by 46% overall.
At the top of the list of the most frequented museums, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, is the Gjergj Kastrioti Museum in Kruja, with a number of visitors reaching 110,000 throughout the past year.
The second place is followed by the National Historical Museum of Tirana, which was visited by 99,796 tourists. Despite the ranking in 2023, Tirana's museum has experienced a 218% increase compared to the figures of 2022.
The Onufri Iconographic Museum in Berat for the year 2023 has been visited by 75,772 visitors, ranking third in terms of popularity. Furthermore, this figure represents an increase of 694% from 2022.
There has also been significant interest from visitors in the National Museum of Surveillance, also known as the "House with Leaves." 48,835 tourists have chosen the surveillance house as a distinctive cultural and historical attraction for the Albanian people.
Fifth place is the Marubi National Photography Museum in Shkodra, where overall, with a figure of 19,220 visitors, it has experienced a 47% increase compared to the previous year.
One million visitors to cultural institutions. Meanwhile, according to figures published by the Ministry, during the past year, it is stated that 28 cultural institutions, including museums, castles, and archaeological parks, have been visited by over 1 million foreign and domestic citizens.
According to estimates from the Ministry of Culture and Environment, regarding the revenues obtained from visitors, in cultural institutions for the year 2023, over 3.2 million euros have been generated, which is about 43.2% more than the revenues obtained during 2022.
