After 15 years of negotiations, Italy and Albania have finalized an agreement for the mutual recognition of pensions for Albanian and Italian citizens. This marks a significant triumph for diplomacy and international relations between the two countries.

With the signing by the Foreign Ministers Igli Hasani for Albania and Antonio Tajani for Italy in Rome, the path is cleared for the recognition of social security benefits for thousands of Albanian immigrants who have been living and working in Italy for years. This action provides a major advantage for the Albanian community in Italy, enabling them to benefit from their social rights and pensions.

Prime Minister Edi Rama from Tirana has hailed this moment as a political triumph. In a video message, he reveals that in 10 years in power, Albania has concluded pension agreements with 16 countries, demonstrating the government's ongoing commitment to protecting the interests and rights of Albanian citizens living in the diaspora.

However, before Albanians and Italians can enjoy these pensions, the latest agreement signed between the two Foreign Ministers will need to pass through the final legal hurdle, ratification in the parliaments of both countries.
