This significant step, initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Bern, focuses on preserving, protecting, and promoting the Albanian language, starting from Albanian teachers and students in the Swiss Confederation.
"Together, we will offer a broader educational platform, integrating teaching staff and increasing the number of students and the quality of education. The merger agreement was signed by the two directors of Albanian schools, Mr. Vaxhid Sejdiu from the "Albanian School" and Mr. Liburn Mehmetaj from LAPSH, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Mustafa Nano, of Kosovo, Mr. Sami Ukelli, of the Association of Albanian Educators and Parents "Naim Frashëri," Mr. Rexhep Demiri, the Minister of Education of Kosovo, Ms. Arbërie Nagavci, representatives of Albanian schools from the cantons, as well as Albanian school teachers.
Furthermore, in support of this merger, three Ambassadors also signed. This is a good omen, as this year has been declared by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania as the "Year of the Albanian Language," and the Embassy hopes that starting from the beginning of the 2024/2025 school year, all teachers and students will embark on a new era for Albanian education in Switzerland. Let us never forget that language is not just a means of communication but above all, it is a symbol of our unity and the rejuvenating power of our nation," stated the announcement.
