Italian Football Federation Labels Albanian Players as Locals

Albanians will be considered locals in Italian football starting from the 2024-2025 season. This is the historic decision taken by the Italian Football Federation to recognize Albanian players as locals rather than foreigners, as FSHF reports.

This decision will directly impact the activation of Albanian players and talents to compete on an equal footing and without any hindrance in one of the world's most important championships.

The Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) states that President Duka has insisted in meetings with Gabriele Gravina, his counterpart in the Italian Federation, to implement such an agreement.

Even clubs in Serie A will now find it easier to bring Albanian players into their ranks following this decision as there are no longer any restrictions. In Serie A alone, the elite of Italian football, there are currently 13 Albanian footballers who, from the new season onwards, will be considered locals.
