Tensions between Russia and Albania have escalated once again as Russia accuses Albanians of joining the conflict in Ukraine. Following the recent attacks and accusations regarding President Zelensky's visit and the opening of the Kuçovë base, Russia has now pointed fingers at Albanians, alleging their involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
According to a report from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 13,387 foreign mercenaries are participating in the conflict in Ukraine. Russian media reports indicate that the announcement was made via Telegram, and the list includes Albania and Kosovo with 192 and 191 mercenaries respectively, allegedly fighting alongside Ukraine.
According to these figures, it is claimed that 84 mercenaries from Kosovo have already been killed in these battles, while 87 from Albania have met the same fate.
Among the regional countries, according to these claims, Bosnia and Herzegovina have contributed 207 mercenaries, of which 90 are believed to have been killed.
The Russian Ministry states that even the United States has sent 1,113 mercenaries, with 491 reported killed. According to the list, the United Kingdom has contributed 822 fighters, with 360 eliminated.
The published list by this ministry indicates mercenaries from countries such as Romania, Germany, and other European, American, Asian, African, and Australian nations.
It is worth noting that Serbia is also included in this list, albeit with only one mercenary who has yet to be killed.
The accusations from Russia have once again sparked tensions in the region, raising concerns about the involvement of foreign fighters in the Ukrainian conflict. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange accusations and rhetoric, further complicating the already volatile situation in Eastern Europe.
