Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, stated to local media that they have been officially informed about the international warrant against the commander of a special unit, Besart Ahmeti.
He mentioned that nothing good is expected from Russia, but added that this is not his concern nor Ahmeti's.
"Nothing good is expected from Russia, Besart is fine... we know, we have the official information, but it's not my concern, nor Besart's," stated Sveçla to the media.
Russia's warrants against members of Kosovo Police come a few months after the events of September 24th last year in Banjskë and in response to the international warrants issued by INTERPOL for the Serbian northern crime boss, Milan Radojić, and several other participants in the terrorist attack in Banjskë.
On the other hand, Nuredin Ibishi emphasized in an interview with Euronews Albania that there are elements within UNMIK, including Russians, Chinese, and Belarusians, who, according to him, serve Serbia.
According to him, officials should be cautious if this notification comes from our office or from the Albanian Interpol.
Furthermore, he stressed that a request should be sent for this arrest warrant to be ignored.
"In UNMIK, there are different elements, there are Russians, there are Chinese and Belarusians who are Serbia's lackeys. A request needs to be sent not only from Kosovo's Interpol that this arrest warrant be ignored since it is baseless, and the other issue is not to support democratic countries. Some officials need to be careful if this notification comes from our office or from Albanian Interpol. It is necessary to request its dismissal," he said.
Additionally, according to sources from Kosovo media, it is reported that the pretext for these warrants is their participation in recent years in police actions to establish order and law in northern Kosovo, including the arrest of a Russian citizen in 2019 for barricades in the North.
Through these warrants, Russia seeks to have these Kosovo police officials listed on INTERPOL's wanted list.
