Altin Dumani emphasized that the Special Prosecution Office does not cooperate with the State Police on organized crime because there are officers involved in crimes. Speaking before the High Council of Prosecution, Dumani stressed that the lack of cooperation in this field is due to the involvement of police officers at high levels.
"In certain cases, especially those of organized crime, we cannot cooperate with the police because we find that there are officers involved at high levels," said Dumani.
During the annual analysis at the High Council of Prosecution, Dumani stated that the value of confiscated and seized assets amounts to a total of 41 million euros, of which 54% are seized, and the remaining part is confiscated.
According to Dumani, in the past year, 221 criminal proceedings for corruption have been registered. He stated that 67 proceedings were initiated mainly by SPAK, which is 139% more than the previous year.
"During 2023, 10 new joint teams have been formed, while investigations continue with 25 joint investigative teams. There is a 95% increase in requests for legal assistance from abroad, mainly from Italy, France, Nordic countries, as well as countries in the region such as North Macedonia and Kosovo," he said.
