Caught with 2 kg of cocaine, Albanian arrested in Germany

An Albanian national has been arrested in Germany after a quantity of cocaine was seized during a routine check.

Officers from the Passau border police station pulled over the driver of a Mercedes from the Rhein-Sieg district (NRW) as part of a search at the Passau-Nord intersection checkpoint.

Upon closer inspection of the vehicle, officers found over 2 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the luggage.

The 48-year-old was temporarily arrested and brought before an investigating judge at the Passau District Court on Thursday, at the request of the Passau public prosecutor's office, on strong suspicion of illegally importing cocaine.

An arrest warrant has been issued, and the suspect is currently in custody. Investigations by the police and the public prosecutor's office in Passau are ongoing.
