Gianfranco Bonzi, 59, had reportedly fallen in love with a girl he met online who went by the name of Dua Lipa. The two had been acquainted since last summer, with "Dua Lipa" at one point requesting 5,000 euros from Bonzi, which he transferred via bank transfers.

It was a journalist from the Italian missing persons show who managed to make contact with the person behind the Facebook profile named Dua Lipa. When asked about Bonzi, she responded (albeit in imperfect Italian) that she knew nothing but would be willing to go to Cagliari and search for him for 50 euros.

However, during the communication, the police managed to uncover two crucial details about the mysterious girl with the name Dua Lipa: she lives in Sicily and was born in 1966.

Italian media speculate that Gianfranco may have genuinely believed he was communicating with the singer Dua Lipa. He recounted how she would tell him "I love you" and once, when he asked for a photo as proof, she sent him a picture of Dua Lipa kissing the camera.

Bonzi's disappearance has left his family in anguish, with the suspicion that he may have fallen victim to a "romantic scam" orchestrated by someone using a fake profile of the singer Dua Lipa on social media. Investigations are ongoing as authorities try to unravel the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
