As the Assembly of the Council of Europe endorsed the report for Kosovo's accession with a majority vote, Serbia's Foreign Minister, Ivica Dačić, reacted strongly, deeming it a "day of shame" for the Parliamentary Assembly.

"Today marks a day of shame in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. For the first time in history, the accession of something that is not a state and does not meet the basic requirements in the field of human rights and freedoms has been recommended. It's recommended, despite the refusal to form the ACS for 11 years," Dačić stated, as reported by "RTS."
He asserted that Serbia "will continue to fight with all its might."
The final step of Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe will be the vote in the Committee of Ministers on May 16.
"We will see the value of the international community's word given to President Aleksandar Vučić that Kosovo will not be accepted into the Council of Europe until it forms the ACS," Dačić added.
Dačić's reaction underscores the deep-seated tensions and disagreements surrounding Kosovo's path to international recognition. For Serbia, Kosovo's advancement in international organizations like the Council of Europe represents a challenge to its own territorial integrity and sovereignty claims. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how Serbia's objections will influence the final decisions regarding Kosovo's integration into European institutions.
