Investigators discovered that the organization, which had its roots in Albania, was highly structured and operated with well-defined criminal methodologies. The group was responsible for the intensive cultivation of cannabis sativa. Some members lived and spent nights in industrial warehouses where they had plantations.
To accelerate the growth of cannabis plants, they used the latest generation lighting materials and large air conditioners to distribute the aroma. They achieved this by tampering with the electrical grid, causing energy losses of over 900 amps.
The Civil Guard carried out several different inspections as part of the operation. In the first phase, on February 28th, a warehouse in Xeresa and an apartment on the beach in Gandía were searched. In the second phase, on March 25th, another warehouse in the city of Rótova was inspected.
In total, around one ton of cannabis sativa was seized, with 308 kilograms of buds in the drying process. The arrested individuals are accused of two crimes against public health, two for electricity fraud, one for document forgery, and another for membership in a criminal organization.
