This year, as we celebrated the 619th anniversary of Skënderbeu's birth, the occasion was not just a reflection on the past, but a celebration that reverberated across Europe and the Balkans with the unveiling of new monuments in several cities.

In a display of homage and pride, two new busts and a statue of Skënderbeu were erected in the Arbëreshë communities in southern Italy. The towns of San Sofia, San Basile, and Zangarona in the region of Calabria proudly stand as testament to the enduring legacy of our national hero, each adorned with a monument in his honor.
These commemorative ceremonies were graced by the presence of President Bajram Begaj, signifying the importance and reverence accorded to Skënderbeu in the hearts of Albanians.
But the celebration extended beyond Italy; Hungary also joined in paying tribute. Following the bust already standing in Budapest's central park, a new bust of Skënderbeu was unveiled in the city of Eger, further solidifying the bond between our nations through shared admiration for this illustrious figure.
Furthermore, a magnificent monument of Skënderbeu was inaugurated just a few days prior in Gjakova, where local authorities gathered to honor the legacy of our national hero.
Looking ahead, the next European city set to host a statue of Albania's national hero is Paris. This exciting news emerged during a recent visit by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, to the French capital, signaling the global resonance of Skënderbeu's legacy.
