The cyber group "Homeland Justice," responsible for two previous cyber attacks on government websites, has escalated its activities. After leaking various personal data of Albanian citizens, the group has now exposed identity card information.
The leaked document comprises 1,311 pages containing the personal details of 65,614 Albanians. This includes ID numbers, names, surnames, places of birth and residence, and phone numbers.
A2 CNN has obtained the full document but has chosen not to publish it to protect the privacy of the individuals involved.
This incident is not the first time sensitive data has been publicly exposed following cyber attacks on Albania. Previously, hackers have released personal information of the head of SHISH, Helidon Bendo, the personal and travel details of the Prime Minister, emails of former State Police Director Gledis Nano, citizen personal data, phone numbers, license plates, vehicle types, documents, and emails of public administration, among others.
On September 10, Albania faced its second cyber attack, this time targeting the TIMS system, following an earlier attack on government online services and the e-Albania platform.
The continuous breaches highlight the pressing need for enhanced cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information and maintain public trust in the digital infrastructure of Albania.
