Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is set to visit Albania on Wednesday, focusing on two main issues: the migrant crisis and the celebration of Italian Culture Week in Albania. According to her agenda, Meloni will arrive in Shëngjin at noon on June 5th, where she will closely inspect the progress of the construction of camps designated to house migrants rescued in the Mediterranean Sea.

In Lezhë, the Italian Prime Minister will be welcomed by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama along with several ministers from the Albanian government. The two leaders will hold a joint press conference to discuss the visit and the broader implications of their cooperation.
A key topic on the agenda is the implementation of a bilateral agreement regarding migrants, which is expected to commence on September 15th. Under this agreement, €13.5 million will be allocated solely for the lease of a ship that will transport 200 migrants to the port of Shëngjin.
Recently, Prime Minister Rama responded to the Italian opposition's criticism of the agreement during an interview on Rai 3. He emphasized that Albania is fulfilling its European duties by giving the green light for the establishment of the migrant camps. This collaboration highlights the ongoing commitment between Albania and Italy to address shared challenges and strengthen their bilateral relationship.
