Greece Faces Third Tourist Death This Week: American Found on Mathraki

 An American tourist who disappeared in Mathraki was found dead on Sunday, according to Greek broadcaster Skai News. This marks the third such incident in Greece within a week.

The 55-year-old man went missing from his hotel on the Greek island of Mathraki last Tuesday. His body was discovered on Sunday, Corfu TV News reported.

Recent Fatalities

This recent death follows the discovery of two other tourists found dead in Greece in recent weeks.

- Samos Incident: A 74-year-old Dutch man was found dead on Saturday on the island of Samos. He had gone hiking alone in the southwestern part of the island. His body was discovered in a valley.
  
- Symi Incident: British television doctor Michael Mosley was found dead a week earlier on the island of Symi. According to Symi's mayor, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, Mosley appeared to have fallen from a steep slope.

Ongoing Searches

Currently, several other tourists remain missing in the country. Authorities are continuing their search and rescue efforts, urging travelers to take necessary precautions when exploring remote areas.

These tragic incidents highlight the importance of safety measures and the need for vigilance while traveling, especially when engaging in activities such as hiking or exploring unfamiliar terrains.
