Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains steadfast in his warnings to neighboring countries. Leveraging the final day of the election campaign for the European Parliament elections, the head of the Hellenic government did not forget to mention Skopje and Tirana.
During his speech in Athens' main square, Syntagma, Mitsotakis reminded Tirana and Skopje that the road to the European Union passes through Athens. Regarding Turkey, Mitsotakis called for the delineation of the "continental shelf" and the establishment of Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs).
"After Sunday, the Greek government should not be consumed with discussions about electoral percentages, but should be able to continue the policy of a strong Greece, sending the message to our northern neighbors that the path of Skopje and Tirana to Brussels inevitably passes through Athens. And that only respect for legality and international treaties can give the green light," said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece.
Mitsotakis' escalating warnings to Albania and North Macedonia are seen as Athens' response to the arrest of Fredi Beleri and the naming dispute with the new leadership in Skopje.
Analysts believe that the New Democracy Party, represented by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will achieve victory in Sunday's European Parliament elections. Mitsotakis has called on Greeks to vote in the European Parliament elections to protect the country's interests and strengthen its future.
Mitsotakis' center-right ruling party, New Democracy, is easily leading in the latest polls, followed by the main left-wing opposition party Syriza and the socialist party PASOK in third place. New Democracy also led in the last European Parliament elections in 2019.
