In the contemporary Albanian political landscape, the establishment of new right-wing parties has become a necessity. Agron Shehaj, a politician and deputy untainted by corruption despite his tenure with the Democratic Party, is at the forefront of this movement. A successful businessman, Shehaj brings invaluable experience to the table, especially in a period where money laundering from drugs and gambling has escalated due to rampant criminal activities.
Agron Shehaj speaking at the founding of the "Mundësia" Party |
This Saturday, Agron Shehaj, a right-wing deputy in the Albanian parliament, hosted the Founding Convention of the "Mundësia" Party, an initiative spearheaded by him. During his speech, Shehaj emphasized that the party he represents will offer a new opportunity for all Albanians.
The "Mundësia" Party emerges as a crucial entity for Albania, highlighting the urgent need for multiple right-wing parties. This necessity arises in a context where the Albanian opposition is fragmented and has nearly lost all credibility, while the ruling party generates endless corruption cases. Several ministers and deputies from the current government have been imprisoned or are under investigation for corruption. Moreover, police officers and entire police stations have been found colluding with criminals to protect cannabis plantations. Other pressing issues include the mass emigration of Albanians, inadequate wages that fail to support a dignified life, and more.
Agron Shehaj condemned the 30 years of corruption, misgovernance, and the nexus between crime and politics, promising that the force he represents will be different and will bring new economic opportunities to the Albanian people.
"A new political party that has been missing for these 30 years, a party that aims to provide opportunities for everyone, not just a minority. We face a great task ahead. What we are doing can only be done by us if we want Albania to become a livable country for everyone. One day, Albania will have an uncorrupted government, and we will build that government," Shehaj stated.
Shehaj acknowledged the immense work ahead but expressed confidence that the "Mundësia" Party will succeed in giving Albania its first uncorrupted government.
"We face a great task ahead, and what we are doing can only be done by us if we want Albania to no longer be the poorest country in Europe after 30 years. I am convinced that we will succeed in having an uncorrupted government. No one will stop us from giving our children a better life. Albania was once a country without trade, and they took control of the market through monopolies. Albania was once a country without construction, and when the market opened, they took the land. But we will change this," Shehaj asserted.
At the founding convention, following Agron Shehaj’s speech, various members and personalities also spoke, highlighting the corruption and regressive policies of Albanian politicians over the past 34 years of Albania's transition.
The creation of the "Mundësia" Party marks a significant step towards addressing Albania's pressing issues and building a future based on integrity, opportunity, and economic growth. With leaders like Agron Shehaj, who are committed to uncorrupted governance and the betterment of all Albanians, the vision of a prosperous and fair Albania seems within reach.
