Non Grata Status of Sali Berisha Unchanged, Says U.S. Embassy

According to the embassy's statement in response to A2 CNN's inquiries, their position on individuals declared non grata remains unchanged, advising caution to those collaborating with such individuals.

"Our position regarding individuals declared non grata remains unchanged: we do not engage with individuals sanctioned by U.S. authorities, and everyone should carefully consider how they work with individuals designated by the U.S.

Our engagements with political actors will be strongly anchored in our shared commitment to Albania's Euro-Atlantic future, including the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

As President Biden has repeatedly noted, the fight against corruption is a national security issue for the United States," the response states.

This statement underscores the U.S. Embassy's consistent stance on maintaining strict measures against corruption and sanctioned individuals, emphasizing the importance of rule of law and political integrity in Albania's path toward a secure and prosperous future within the Euro-Atlantic community.
