Elected as Mayor

Rodolfo Corazzo, a 68-year-old former jeweler, has been elected mayor of the small town of Rodano following the municipal elections held on June 8 and 9. Corazzo ran as the lead candidate for the citizen's list "Rodano per te," which was supported by the entire center-right political spectrum.

A Notorious Incident

Corazzo became a public figure due to a harrowing incident in November 2015, when his home was invaded by a group of Albanian robbers, including Valentin Frrokaj. The intruders held Corazzo and his family, including his then 11-year-old daughter, at gunpoint. During the invasion, Corazzo managed to fight back, shooting and killing Frrokaj in a dramatic exchange of gunfire. Initially investigated for excessive self-defense, Corazzo was later exonerated, and the case was closed after two years.

Commitment to Safety

In an interview with Il Giorno, Corazzo emphasized that ensuring the safety of Rodano's residents will be a top priority during his tenure. Reflecting on the traumatic home invasion, he stated, "What happened to me—being kidnapped along with my wife and daughter, threatened with weapons—will not happen again in Rodano. It was an isolated incident, but it showed the terror citizens feel when their privacy is violated."

Details of the Home Invasion

The incident Corazzo referred to occurred in late November 2015. Valentin Frrokaj, a known criminal who had previously escaped from prison twice, along with two other Albanian accomplices, broke into Corazzo's villa. They stole gold, jewelry, money, and even a gun from the family's safe. During the robbery, the intruders attempted to intimidate Corazzo's young daughter, threatening to harm her if her father did not comply.

The Dramatic Confrontation

When the robbers locked themselves in a room, Corazzo seized the opportunity to retrieve his gun and fired at the intruders. Frrokaj returned fire, resulting in a deadly exchange that left Frrokaj fatally wounded. The other robbers fled, leaving Frrokaj behind. The intense episode concluded with Corazzo being cleared of any wrongdoing after a thorough investigation.

A New Beginning

Nearly ten years after the tragic event, Corazzo has transitioned from victim to leader, taking on the responsibility of guiding his community as mayor. His personal experience with crime has deeply influenced his political platform, focusing on enhancing security measures to protect the citizens of Rodano from similar threats.
