On Friday morning, a 33-year-old Albanian woman named Gabriela Çelaj from Kuçova was discovered injured in an abandoned building on "Ksouthou" street in Athens. She was found with head injuries, multiple bodily wounds, and a stab wound to her left thigh. She was immediately transported to the hospital and is now out of danger.

The Greek police were initially alerted by cries for help coming from the first floor of the abandoned building. Upon reaching the location, they found a locked door with someone calling for assistance behind it. After breaking the lock, the officers discovered Gabriela Çelaj tied up and severely injured.
Çelaj managed to identify her attacker, 27-year-old Palestinian national Mohammad Odi, who had been apprehended by police approximately six hours prior to her discovery. Odi was detained during a routine stop at the intersection of "Sokratous" and "Ksouthou" streets, where police found him in possession of a 23 cm long knife with a 12 cm blade.
Gabriela Çelaj recounted that she met Odi early that morning, around 2:00 AM, and they agreed to go to his place. However, once they arrived, Odi assaulted her, tied her up, and left her in the abandoned building until she was found by the police. She had agreed to go with him under the premise of consensual sex, but upon entering his home, she was brutally attacked and forced to perform oral sex against her will.
She described how Odi continued to beat her, and she eventually lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness, she began screaming for help, which ultimately led the police to her location.
The gruesome events unfolded when police officers, patrolling the area around midday, stopped Odi and discovered the knife on him. Later, at around 9:20 PM, officers heard Çelaj's cries for help and rescued her from the abandoned building.
The 27-year-old suspect is now in police custody, and the victim is receiving medical care and support. This horrifying incident underscores the ongoing issue of violence and the need for vigilant law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals.
Gabriela Çelaj’s ordeal highlights the dangers that can arise in urban environments and the importance of quick and decisive action by police to prevent such crimes. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to ensure justice is served and to provide the necessary support for the victim.
