This incident has shaken the community and raised concerns about safety and supervision in summer centers for children. Jetmir Murati, the girl's father, spoke to Italian media, demanding justice for the tragedy, local media report.
“She was my life. Why did she die this way? I seek justice until the end for this tragedy,” said Murati. He emphasized that his daughter could not swim and had been equipped with floatation arm bands. He also criticized the level of supervision provided: “You cannot leave a 15-year-old to watch the children. My daughter's glasses were in her bag; she took them off before swimming. She did not fall accidentally, she was not alone.”
The father's plea comes after the discovery of his daughter in two meters of water by emergency responders. Her absence was noted only when it was time for her to go home. Murati had entrusted the summer center chaperones with the responsibility of monitoring the children. Despite there being dozens of children from the entire valley, there were only seven chaperones at the biopark, of which only two were adults.
The biopark is currently under seizure and closed as investigations proceed. Two days after the tragedy at the Caraglio Biopark lake in the Cuneo area, AcquaViva biopark manager Roberto Manzi and the parish entertainment director are under investigation for manslaughter due to negligence. This marks the first concrete turn in the investigation into the death of 7-year-old Anisa Murati, who drowned on Wednesday afternoon in the lake.
The Prosecutor's Office has appointed Federico Quaranta as a consultant to clarify the exact dynamics of the young girl's death. Anisa was found lifeless around 6 PM, lying in the lakebed near the diving platform, after being noticed missing around 4:30 PM. She had disappeared around 3:30 PM.
Anisa was part of a group of children from the Stura Valley. The trip was organized by the summer center located at the Demonte parish, where the young girl lived with her family. Seven caretakers, all very young volunteers, were responsible for the children, with only two being adults. The group leader responsible for Anisa's group was just 18 years old.
The Cuneo Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into manslaughter and child abandonment against unidentified persons responsible for the children's care at the camp. The tragic event occurred on Wednesday, July 17, when the young girl disappeared shortly after 3 PM in the Acquaviva di Caraglio lake area. The 7-year-old had spent the day at the camp with a group from Oratory Valle Stura in Demonte, where she lived with her family.
