In a significant international collaboration, the Albanian Police have worked closely with their Montenegrin counterparts to bring a successful conclusion to the operation code-named “Kidnapping.” This operation resulted in the rescue of 11 Arab migrants who had been taken hostage.

The pivotal information was secured by the Albanian State Police and shared through Europol with the Montenegrin Police. This exchange of intelligence enabled the authorities to locate and free the captives. The hostages, all Arab migrants, were held against their will by Afghan kidnappers in a mountainous region of Montenegro. Under the threat of firearms, the captors demanded a ransom of 50,000 euros for the release of their prisoners.

Two of the kidnappers, both Afghan nationals, were apprehended in Montenegro. The success of this operation was largely due to the critical information provided by the Albanian Police, which included the precise location of the hostages and other key details that led to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.

The operation highlights the importance of international cooperation and information sharing in tackling transnational crime. The coordinated efforts between the Albanian and Montenegrin police forces, facilitated by Europol, were instrumental in securing the safe release of the hostages and bringing the kidnappers to justice.
