Admir Tutaj, a 25-year-old, was arrested two days ago (August 23) in Colombia. The young Albanian is accused of participating in a criminal group and arms trafficking.
Foreign media reports indicate that Tutaj used the alias "Almirante" to conceal his identity and is considered a member of the "Balkan Clan."
"He was wanted by Interpol for arms trafficking and membership in a criminal organization, where he played a role in managing logistics and the transportation of weapons on the black market. The weapons were used by Albanian mobsters," foreign media emphasized.
Tutaj was apprehended upon his arrival in Barranquilla and was handed over to the Office of the Attorney General.
The young man had been under the scrutiny of Albanian authorities due to suspicions that he belonged to a criminal group attempting to traffic arms and ammunition through the Port of Durrës.
In April of the previous year, exactly seven pistols were seized as they were being smuggled into Albania, along with a large quantity of ammunition hidden in a truck.
Similarly, in August of this year, investigations by the Special Anti-Corruption Structure led to a raid that uncovered 25 firearms, including pistols and assault rifles, which were reportedly intended for local trafficking.
