As the opening of the camp in Gjadër approaches, the Italian agents who are expected to arrive in Albania on August 20 to oversee the migrant centers seem to have been trained on various aspects, including how to behave with Albanian women, ordering in bars and restaurants, interacting with citizens, and moderating their speech in public.
The guide with 14 points established for the first 45 Italian police officers who will arrive in Albania was published this Tuesday (August 6) by La Repubblica.
The Italian officers have been advised to be careful with their speech, as they were informed during training that almost all Albanians understand Italian.
Another point emphasized in the document published by the Italian media is the guidance on how to approach Albanian women. The Italian officers have been instructed not to communicate with Albanian women, as they might encounter conflicts with their husbands.
"First of all, avoid approaching Albanian women. A man who sees his wife being attended to by another man might react poorly." Moreover, as these people are "a modest people, nudity or inappropriate clothing in public is not welcomed," the document notes.
"Coffee consumption is not at the counter but only seated," "In restaurants, stick to the menu; requests for changes are not welcome." And, finally, the recommendation of all recommendations: "Be careful how you speak... almost all Albanians know Italian."
Gennarino De Fazio, the General Secretary of the Penitentiary Police of UILPA, has expressed criticism over the selection of the first 45 officers who will arrive in Albania to oversee the camp in Gjadër, as well as over the extraordinary situation in Italian prisons.
45 Italian officers, including a manager, will oversee a maximum of 20 migrants arriving in Albania.
In Italy, on the other hand, the article emphasizes, 7-8 agents oversee 400-500 detainees.
