Approximately 20,000 high school graduates have applied to pursue higher education in Albania. Nearly half of these young people are interested in studying IT and Medicine, the most sought-after and well-paid fields in the job market. Notably, this year, IT and Engineering programs have surpassed General Medicine and other health-related programs in popularity.

As the application process comes to a close, the head of the Albanian Academic Network has highlighted the students' preferences. The traditional fields of economics and law have seen almost the same number of applications as in previous years.
In contrast, fields like teaching and agriculture, which have been declared priority areas, have not experienced an increase in demand compared to last year. Meanwhile, in a few days, 2,500 young people from across the country will compete for 400 spots in the General Medicine program.
The electronic test held in Tirana accounts for 30% of the score, while the remaining 70% is based on the results of the state high school exam. After the application process and entrance exams for certain specific programs, the list of accepted students will be announced at the end of August, followed by university registrations according to the published dates.
