Recently, Kevin completed his PhD studies at Harvard, where his research focused on colorectal cancer. At just 28 years old, he successfully studied the genetic mutation responsible for this type of cancer, paving the way for more personalized treatments for patients.

Kevin is following in the footsteps of his family, where his grandfather, Qevqep Kambo, was one of the few remarkable individuals who contributed to the field of science in Albania. His mother is also a scientific researcher in biotechnology and currently works in the United States, while Kevin’s father is a professor at the University of California, San Diego.

Born in the U.S. to an intellectual family, Kevin grew up surrounded by a wealth of scientific knowledge and innovation in biotechnology. He shared with A2 CNN that he even studied the Albanian language at Harvard, a decision that deeply moved his mother.

Kevin is married to Belli, an American lawyer who has fallen in love with Albania and its people. In fact, they made sure to include traditional Albanian attire in their wedding. While both are trying to learn new Albanian words, Kevin often mixes up similar-sounding ones, leading to some funny linguistic mishaps.

With his dedication to science and strong cultural roots, Kevin Dervishi continues to inspire not only Albanians but also the global scientific community with his groundbreaking work.
