Tirana International Airport (TIA) continues its rapid expansion, adding new destinations to its growing network. This Wednesday, TIA welcomed the inaugural Copenhagen-Tirana flight, operated by Scandinavian Airlines. According to the airport, passengers can now fly directly from Tirana to Copenhagen twice a week.
This marks the latest in a series of new destinations. Just two weeks ago, Tirana Airport launched a direct route to Oman, operated by Salam Air. This airline now connects Tirana with Muscat, the capital of Oman, also with two weekly flights.
Over the past three years, the number of direct destinations from Tirana International Airport has nearly quadrupled. This, coupled with lower ticket prices, has made Tirana Airport increasingly popular among travelers from neighboring countries such as Montenegro and North Macedonia. This shift reverses a long-standing trend where Albanians were often forced to fly from airports in neighboring countries due to high prices and limited destinations at Tirana Airport.
