Albanian Artist Ramë Dardania Opens Solo Exhibition in Geneva, Honoring the Legacy of Xhemajl Ademi

Geneva, October 15 – In the heart of Geneva's old town, renowned Albanian artist Ramë Dardania unveiled his latest solo exhibition, titled "Fytyrat" ("Faces"), in a grand opening attended by a diverse audience of Albanian and Swiss artists, art enthusiasts, and supporters. The exhibition, held at La Gallery on rue Étienne Dumont 5, will run until November 9 and is a tribute to Xhemajl Ademi, a prominent figure of humanism and solidarity within the Albanian community.

Speaking at the event, Ramë Dardania shared his thoughts on the inspiration behind the exhibition: “The ‘Faces’ exhibition is a tribute to Baci Xhemajl Ademi, a shining figure of humanism, who, with his love and dedication, kept our hopes alive even in difficult times.”

Dardania’s works on display feature abstract representations of human faces, reflecting the depth of the human soul and the complexities of emotions. In an interview with the Swiss-Albanian newspaper, Dardania explained: “In this exhibition, I’m presenting my pieces, including an internal face in abstract form, which portrays the depth of the human spirit and the complexity of our emotions.”

A Tribute to Xhemajl Ademi

Xhemajl Ademi, affectionately known as “Baci Xhemajl,” holds a special place in the hearts of many within the Albanian diaspora. Ramë Dardania emphasized the importance of honoring his legacy through this artistic tribute, stating: “Baci Xhemajl was always wise, hardworking, and loved by all of us. He made invaluable contributions to our community, helping those in need and filling our homes with bread and kindness.”

Dardania expressed that Ademi’s resilience in the face of life's hardships taught the community the importance of solidarity and mutual support. “Even today, we have debts written on old papers that have been settled long ago. This is why I decided to pay back this debt with this exhibition, as a sign of respect and gratitude for his invaluable contribution,” Dardania added.
