A tragic accident occurred on the Laç-Highway, where a 43-year-old woman, identified as Florinda Zvangu, an off-duty police officer, struck and fatally injured a 51-year-old pedestrian with her car. The pedestrian, V.H., a resident of Kurbin, was immediately transported to Tirana’s Trauma Hospital for specialized medical assistance, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

According to the police statement, the incident took place while the officer was off duty. Zvangu, who was driving her personal vehicle, hit V.H. while he was crossing the road. Following the accident, the police investigation team and specialists from the Internal Affairs and Complaints Service (AMP) in the Lezhë-Shkodër region responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
Zvangu has been taken into custody and charged with "Violation of Road Traffic Rules" under Article 290/3 of the Penal Code. The procedural materials are expected to be referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance in Lezhë for further legal action.
