Morinë, Albania – A 36-year-old Kosovar man has been arrested by Albanian border police at the Morinë border crossing while attempting to smuggle €18,000 into the country without declaring it, as required by law.
In a joint operation with customs officials, border police stopped a Golf vehicle driven by D.M. at the Albanian border for a thorough inspection. During the search, authorities discovered the undeclared sum of money hidden within the vehicle.
The funds were immediately seized, and the Kosovar citizen, a resident of Mamusha, was arrested and charged with the criminal offense of "Failure to declare cash and valuables at the border."
The case has been referred to the Kukës Prosecutor's Office for further investigation.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of Albanian authorities to combat cross-border crime and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
