Kosovo Shines at Balkan U-21 Judo Championship in Tirana with Four Gold Medals

 This past weekend, the capital of Albania, Tirana, hosted the Balkan U-21 Judo Championship, where Kosovo's national team delivered an impressive performance. Outshining competitors from 11 participating countries, Kosovo secured four gold medals and one bronze, the highest tally of gold medals from any nation in the tournament.

The Kosovar judokas demonstrated their dominance across various weight categories. Estea Arifaj (48 kg), Enise Zijade (57 kg), Andi Reshitaj (60 kg), and Muhamedin Veseli (66 kg) all clinched gold, showcasing their technical prowess and fighting spirit. Their victories reinforced Kosovo’s growing reputation in judo, a sport where the nation has consistently excelled on the international stage.

In addition to the golds, Sidorela Dodaj (52 kg) fought valiantly to secure a bronze medal, rounding out Kosovo's remarkable performance in Tirana. 

While Kosovo emerged as the top-performing country, Albania, the host nation, also participated with six athletes. However, their results were more modest, with the Albanian team claiming only two bronze medals.

The championship highlighted the strength and competitiveness of judo in the Balkans, with young athletes from the region coming together in a display of talent and determination. Kosovo’s success in this tournament serves as yet another testament to the country’s commitment to developing its athletes and excelling in the sport on the international stage. 

As the U-21 judokas continue their journey, this weekend’s victories mark an important milestone for Kosovo’s judo team and set the stage for future triumphs on the global level.
